Three Latvian universities ranked in QS World University Rankings 2021

Three universities from Latvia have been ranked in QS World University Rankings 2021, which is one of the world's most influential and also the most widely known international university rankings.

Our universities are in 701st to 1000th places

The highest position among Latvian universities has been achieved by Riga Technical University (RTU), which is ranked in the 701st -750th place, while Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and University of Latvia (UL) share the 801st -1000th place.

Higher education institutions included in the QS World University Rankings 2021 ranking were assessed taking into consideration six criteria – Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, Faculty/Student Ratio, as well as International Faculty and International Students.

Highest scores in ability to atract international students

RTU received the highest appraisal for its increase of foreign students, and in this indicator RTU improved its position by 66 places, ranking 371st in the global assessment.

RSU also is highly appraised in ability to attract foreign students. The proportion of foreign students at RSU is at a level that has allowed it to reach 168th place in the world.

UL has the best results in terms of International Faculty, in this indicator UL is ranked in the 580th place globally.  

Top universities in the USA

Universities from the United States are in the top four - the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as first, Stanford University - second, Harvard University - third, and California Institute of Technology - fourth. In total, 1,002 universities from 93 countries were included in the ranking this year. The results of the ranking were published on June 10, 2020.
