Study in Latvia has received 332 applications for Latvian state scholarships for studies for 2022/2023 academic year

The application for Latvian state scholarships for studies for 2022/2023 academic year is closed. The State Education Development Agency has received 332 applications from nationals of 35 countries. An administrative and quality evaluation of the applications is currently underway and will end in June.

The largest number of applications has received from Azerbaijan - 60 applications, followed by applications from Finland and Ukraine - 38 applications per each country, Germany - 27 and Uzbekistan 21 applications.

Following universities are with largest number of applications for studies with support of the state scholarships:

  • Riga Stradins University (79 applications)
  • Riga Technical University (77 applications)
  • University of Latvia (51 applications)
  • Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (22 applications)
  • Turiba University (18 applications)
  • Art Academy of Latvia (15 applications)


The most popular study fields are health care, commercial sciences and business administration.

The amount of the Latvian state scholarship for bachelor's and master's level students is 500 euros per month, but for doctoral students - 700 euros per month.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of intergovernmental agreements on co-operation in education and science, as well as on reciprocity principle- for those countries that also provide Latvian citizens with the opportunity to apply for scholarships. In 2022, citizens of 42 countries were eligible to apply for Latvian state scholarships.
