Study in Latvia has received 309 applications for Latvian state scholarships for studies for 2023/2024 academic year

The application for Latvian state scholarships for studies for 2023/2024 academic year is closed. The State Education Development Agency has received 309 applications from nationals of 30 countries. An administrative and quality evaluation of the applications is currently underway and will end in June.

The largest number of applications has received from Azerbaijan - 56 applications, followed by applications from Finland and Uzbekistan - 32 applications per each country, Ukraine  - 26, Kazahstan – 21, China and Sweden 18 applications per each.

Following universities are with largest number of applications for studies with support of the state scholarships:

  • Riga Technical University (89 applications)
  • Riga Stradins University (73 applications)
  • University of Latvia (53 applications)
  • Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (17 applications)
  • Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (15 applications)

The most popular study fields are health care, commercial sciences, business administration and IT.

The amount of the Latvian state scholarship for bachelor's and master's level students is 500 euros per month, but for doctoral students - 700 euros per month.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of intergovernmental agreements on co-operation in education and science, as well as on reciprocity principle- for those countries that also provide Latvian citizens with the opportunity to apply for scholarships. In 2023, citizens of 43 countries were eligible to apply for Latvian state scholarships.
